THE SOMATIC MEMOIR LAB:
Nine Steps to Write and Publish
Your Book with Somatic Writing
With Somatic Writing Founder,
Tanya Taylor Rubinstein
Friday, October 15th at 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Central Time
If you’re anything like the vast majority of the writers I support, you’ve heard a call for your entire lifetime, an inner directive pointing you toward the embodiment of your soul gift, in service to something much greater than yourself.
It’s something that can only be accomplished by you, and to do so, you'll need to completely surrender your ego, liberate your voice and share your story with the world.
Perhaps you've already birthed yourself over and over again, and not only survived, but have found a way to rise again and again to authentically thrive.
Now it’s time to share your journey as a book, to both stand in your own power and center your gift in the world to serve others.
Are you ready?
Your ego will likely answer, “No.”
But your soul may feel differently.
The harm of the current dominant narratives (white supremacy, heteronormativity, patriarchy) has created the global emergency we face -- demanding the collapse of the dominant culture, and the birth of something new.
Which means for you personally: It’s Go time. The emerging world needs your story.
And though you know you have something profound to share, you probably have no idea how to write a memoir.
Maybe you have partially completed manuscripts, scraps from writing workshops, years worth of journals and morning pages you’ve collected, knowing they contain seeds of your story. Still, you haven't been able to center on a sense of internal structure to grow those seeds into a book.
But you know you have to. Even if you’ve gotten lost in material or overwhelmed with emotions before, you’re determined to find a way.
Perhaps you’ve been inspired by writers like Joy Harjo, Elizabeth Gilbert, Glennon Doyle, Cheryl Strayed and Roxane Gay.
If you’re anything like me, you’re not only a writer. You’re spiritually or artistically gifted. You were born this way. You’re a natural leader, likely a mystic or poet, even if no one knows you as such in your “ordinary world.”
You have deep gifts that sometimes live in the shadow of your psyche, and they’re waiting for you to allow them all the way out of the closet.
You get overwhelmed. Which stories from your past should you choose? Which are relevant to the universal message you have to share now? How do you write through trauma?
You don’t have to struggle alone.
I’ve been a story coach for 29 years, helping people complete solo shows, memoirs and hybrid nonfiction books. I’ve developed the Somatic Memoir Lab to take writers from frustrated natural creative to published author.

“I have been coached and trained by over 50 writers across the world, some with huge international recognition, and not one has ever opened me to myself the way Tanya does. Tanya is a powerful guide through the chaotic and often painful journey of writing and discovery.
If you've decided to write directly toward the truth no matter where it goes and you've found it challenging, lonely or scary... this is the answer. If you are a writer or aspiring to be, and you want a safe and powerful container to find your voice in writing, I can't recommend Tanya enough.”
- Andrya Allen, Founder of Vox Verba & Writer
“Tanya has been the ancient midwife of my story. She cradled me, wept with me, sang me through my grief, coaxed my words, and gently guided me to the courage to birth my voice. She once said to me, “I can’t promise you safety here.” In its place, she supported me in the ultimate radical soul liberation - the telling of my story.”
- Melissa Kaplan
Author & Somatic Therapist
Tanya has a gift and that gift is to help you find the deepest truth, and then she holds your feet to the fire until you tell it to the best of your ability.
Being in the group is so supportive -- taking the isolation out of being a writer, and also out of the past I’m writing about in which I felt so alone. It's helping me find the voice I lost as a child, or probably more accurately never had or developed, and giving it the space to develop now."
- Diana Lightmoon, Psychotherapist & Writer
